I think handwashing is still the best way to go!!!!!!!!Is using a dishwasher more cost efficient than hand washing?
That depends on how often you run your dishwasher, and how full it is. In my home there are only two of us, so using a dishwasher would not be cost effective. If you have a large family it may be to your benefit. Just be sure that you don't run it when it's only half full. Same principal as a washer. Is using a dishwasher more cost efficient than hand washing?
I like hand washing because I have only 5 items to wash per day. If you have a large family then a dishwasher would be best to use. When you talk about cost efficiency you have to take into consideration the cost of the dishwasher and no cost to the hands. And, you have to consider the cost of water in your area, the problem of water shortage, and that some places have only well water so you have to wash dishes by hand there, but also you need to consider how much time you have in your schedule to wash dishes and which is more efficient to you. Some people like the dishwasher because it can use scalding hot water and hot water removes bacteria. But sometimes a dishwasher can end up smelling from mold, and also you have to first remove the food from the dishes before you put them in the dishwasher. Then you have to buy special washing ';powder'; for the dishwasher, while the liquid you would use for washing dishes by hand can be used for many uses. So all in all when you consider all aspects of ';cost'; the hand washing of dishes is by far the most cost efficient in the long run.
it is more efficient if are number of rules are followed.
it must be an efficient dishwasher, 4 star or close
must be full before washing
do not use the dryer element.
the most important thing, in my opinion, is the ability to hook up hot water to the dishwasher, as it does not require more electricity to heat the water.
You will find some dishwashers wont allow this, so check before you buy.
Hand washing uses about 15 litres of water, and needs rinsing as well. If you have a lot of dishes, you may have to drain and refill a couple of times. An efficient dishwasher will use approximately 15 litres and wash and rinse up to 14 places settings with cutlery. Your hands did not even get wet, a pretty good trade off.
no.
You should fill up one sink with soapy water, wash the dishes, fill up the other side to rinse the dishes. ( or if one sink, just drain the soapy water and fill with clean)
If you are looking to sanitize, you should use the dishwasher.
Sure is!
and saves your time and sanity!!
