Hand washing dishes or using the dishwasher- which uses less water?Which way is cheaper?

I have been told the dishwasher uses less, but when you factor in electricity and gas to heat the water... Thanks in advance for your replies.Hand washing dishes or using the dishwasher- which uses less water?Which way is cheaper?
Dishwasher uses less. You have energy saver and saver heat and saver rinse on all your buttons.Hand washing dishes or using the dishwasher- which uses less water?Which way is cheaper?
The average dishwasher uses about 11.5 gallons of water per cycle. I suggest lighly pre-rinsing dirty dishes and waiting run a full load. This would be the best way to conserve water.
hey rottymom just think while the dish washer runs i can be setting down or doing the landury or sewing . its much cheaper to run the dish washer and they are sanitized in the dish washer too. you can also watch a fgood tv show while they wash.
Rott, the dishwasher is cheaper and more effective bay far. There is no way you can hand wash dishes in water that is as hot as what a dishwasher uses. That hot water sterilizes your dishes as well.
Hand washing definitely uses less water and it gets the dishes cleaner. It seems pretty pointless to use a dishwasher when you always need to pre-rinse them to get them clean. On which one's cheaper, I guess that matters how much your time is worth, but since dishwashers use more water, it's more expensive.
It is best to use the dishwasher because of the hot water. The water is hot enough to kill any germs that might be floating around which will keep your family healthier this winter. You can reduce the amount of electricity the dishwasher uses by turning off the heat dry cycle. If you don't have that option, just open the door when the dishwasher gets to that cycle to let the dishes air dry.

A dishwasher may be more expensive than washing by hand, but it is much more sanitary (and easier). You can use the time you save on the dishes tend to an indoor garden. You can grow cherry tomatoes and other salad veggies in your kitchen throughout the winter.
When you figure in the water you waste doing by hand. It's cheaper to use a dishwasher. But I like washing dishes by hand.
Well. dish washer use the same amount of water is every time you load it up, washing by hand is control by your hand %26amp; depends on how many dishes you have, more dishes ,more water, if washing the same number of dishes.mostly more water by hand.

On the new dish washer with energy star on it. they use even less water %26amp; energy.
