Are you referring to the difference between laundry detergent and hand soap?

Each product has a particular chemical makeup to best achieve its goal. In other words, laundry detergent was designed to effectively wash clothing, linens, and other fabrics in need of cleaning. Hand soap was designed to wash a person's skin. While you might be able to wash clothes with a bar of soap, it might not remove stains that laundry detergent could. And while you probably could wash your hands in laundry detergent, it could be harder on your hands than a hand soap. What is the difference between Machine-washing And hand washing detergent?
machine washing detergent are specifically manufactured for washing machine. some are front loading which are low suds and some are top loading which are high suds. you can use the top loading detergent for handwashing, however there is also a detergent specifically for handwashing which is manufactured that is soft to hands
I don't know how to directly answere your question, but this might help you. I once hand washed a shirt in Woolite..it faded. I told my mom about it, and she says she thinks that woolite often causes her clothes to fade, and i would protect the color better by handwashing with machine-washing detergent. (we use cheer) My mom and i think woolite is just a gimmick to get our money, because neither one of us sees any benefit of it. (perhaps for wool only?)
